Chris — a Survivor!

“Chris” (name has been changed for privacy reasons) is a survivor of serious domestic violence and mother of two pre-teen children. The world in which this family lived was no doubt very different from the one in which we live. Without employment, no child support, and no community support system, Chris and her daughters naturally drifted into despair and a sense of hopelessness. And, on top of all of that, Chris became ill and was hospitalized, resulting in the need for nursing care at home for a month. Just imagine the complications that ensued from this situation.

GiveBig 2015Attain Housing stepped in to provide housing and, utilizing our effective and compassionate case management team, worked extremely hard to improve the lives of this deserving family. With help from our case managers, they worked together to create strategies to attain their goals, with benchmarks to measure their progress, and little by little they began to regain hope, to see light at the end of the tunnel.

We are happy to report that Chris has advanced her formal education, found gainful employment, is effectively using resources while still managing health issues, continues to raise two wonderful children on her own (one of whom has special needs), and has secured permanent housing.

We need your help so that we can continue to help more folks like Chris, so others can live from a place of purpose, creativity and integrity as Chris and her daughters are now doing.

Attain Housing serves families who have run out of options. They have fallen through the cracks of the social service programs and are ending up on the streets with no viable options for shelter or safety. Chris and her daughters and many like them need your support. You can make a difference in the lives of many homeless families.
